As of June 1, 2015, Douglas College is deactivating the wireless network named Douglas College. If you’re not connected yet to the new replacement network, Douglas College Internal, make the change now to avoid interruption in Internet access through your mobile device.
One of the main benefits of the new Douglas College network is that staff and faculty will have access to their mapped drives even when using a library or college-issued laptop. Employees will also be able to send files to the printers they usually do when using a desktop computer. “Our wireless experience will be the same as our wired experience,” says Kim Reeves, CEIT Infrastructure Services Manager.
As announced in November, the Douglas College Internal network is more secure and easier to use. “It requires a one-time login and has high security and encryption, which prevents unauthorized access,” says Reeves. The College will have, from June, only two networks: Douglas College Internal (available to employees and students) and Guest Douglas College (available only to people visiting the College on business and sponsored by a Douglas College employee).
How to connect to the wireless network
- Choose Douglas College Internal from the list of available networks
- Click Connect
- Enter your username and password when prompted. NOTE: You may be prompted to accept a security certificate.
- To accept the certificate, click Accept or Continue. NOTE: Your device is connected to the College wireless network. This is a one-time login. Now the network will automatically recognize your device.
If you’re already connected to Douglas College Internal, you don’t need to take any action. For assistance, please contact the Help Desk by email or phone at 604 527 5330.
